ENGLEWOOD ­— Turtle-friendly streetlights, sidewalks along Beach Road and other improvements to the Charlotte County side of Manasota Key may be coming, thanks to a master plan under development by the Manasota Key Municipal Services Taxing Unit.

MSTU Advisory Board Chairwoman B.J. Galberaith said the master plan will be designed to improve the aesthetics and safety of the island. An MSTU is created by the County Commission to provide benefits to a specific area through additional ad valorem tax revenue collected within the MSTU area.
