PUNTA GORDA — After a disastrous performance in its district opener, the Charlotte High School girls basketball team returned to the basics against an undermanned Manatee squad.

And the Tarpons learned they didn’t have to rely on Mallory Burton to carry the offense: Several others put up solid numbers in the 62-47 victory in a District 7A-11 matchup.
