MURDOCK —The amount of settlement money Charlotte County stands to receive from fines levied against BP in the aftermath of the Deepwater Horizon oil spill have yet to be determined, but that isn’t stopping officials from crafting a wish list of projects they want funded.

At Tuesday’s regular County Commission meeting, Commissioner Tricia Duffy rattled off a laundry list of ideas that includes everything from stadium improvements at Charlotte Sports Park to algae cleanup at Sunshine Lake and Sunrise Waterway, to sewer and road projects. The list contains about a dozen items that staff hopes can be paid for with BP money once a final settlement amount is determined.
