High tides force beach officials
to close daily

DAYTONA BEACH (AP) — High tides are forcing Volusia County beach officials to close off part of the beach on a daily basis.

Beach Patrol spokeswoman Tammy Marris says they have had to close beaches to driving because of higher than normal waves and tides. Marris tells the Daytona Beach News-Journal she expects the higher tides to remain for at least another week.

Beaches in Flagler County have also been affected by seasonal high-tide conditions and even rip currents.
