DeSoto County freshman Lexi Williams had just finished playing her best game of her young high school career. She had just one word for how she felt after her team ended their four-match losing streak with a win over district rival Hardee: “Great!”

It was an important win, especially since it came against Hardee. After opening the season with a win at home over North Port, the junior varsity Bulldogs lost matches on the road to Charlotte, Port Charlotte and Lemon Bay. They also lost to Sebring at home. They needed a good match before they headed into the JV tournament at North Port four days later and another tournament the following weekend at Port Charlotte.
