Lady Bulldgos compete in tourney action

DeSoto County’s Bethany Bonville serves to the Mariner Tritons and gets the Bulldogs off to a 14-1 lead. That quick start resulted in the Bulldogs’ first tournament win as they swept Mariner in two games. Bonville led the Bulldogs with 12 aces.

The DeSoto County varsity volleyball team finished sixth in the Gene Gorman Tournament held Sept. 14-15 at Charlotte High. The finish featured the team’s first tournament win in the past two years.

When entering tournaments with bigger schools and very good programs, it has been hard for DeSoto to pick up wins in the past. The Bulldogs did gain valuable experience, however, and that showed with a tournament win over Mariner.
