It didn’t look too promising for the Junior Varsity Girls soccer team against Hardee. Coach Juany Gonzalez kept telling her players to “Open up! Open up!” There were few shots on goal by either team, but Hardee was able to keep the ball on the DeSoto end of the field most of the night. Yet DeSoto’s defense held tough and kept the game with no score at the end of 30 minutes of play.

In the second half both teams played with a little more urgency as the 30-minute clock kept ticking down. At the 11:40 mark Hardee had a couple of strong opportunities to score, but DeSoto’s defense was able to clear the ball out and seemed to have once again escaped danger. A minute and half later the Bulldogs were not so fortunate. At the 10:03 mark, Hardee once again had numerous opportunities and this time they scored with a shot that caught the right corner of the net.
