The DeSoto County Sheriff’s Office reports that 61 people were arrested in the county during Operation: Felon Sweep in partnership with the Florida Sheriffs Association. According to DCSO, several county sheriff’s offices took part in the effort from Sept. 28 through Oct. 22 to find and charge felons wanted for a variety of crimes.

DeSoto County Sheriff William “Will” Wise said 61 individuals were arrested in DeSoto including 31 on warrants and 30 on probable cause, resulting in a total of 235 felony charges and 51 misdemeanors. Statewide, more than 12,000 felons were arrested in the operation which involved 43 sheriff’s offices.
