Law against trailer rides enforced
ARCADIA — The DeSoto County Sheriff’s Office wants to remind everyone, especially around Halloween, that it is unlawful for anyone to ride on a trailer being pulled by any vehicle, or to ride outside the vehicle in any way (for example, on the fender, hood, roof, trunk or running board). Furthermore, it is unlawful for anyone under the age of 18 to ride in the open bed of a pickup or a flatbed truck without safety restraints.
“In recent years, people have been letting children ride on trailers on Halloween and they go from house to house,” said Maj. Sam Williamson of DCSO. “It’s a serious safety issue.”
