Earl Hayes, 87, of Arcadia, Fla., passed away Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2013.
He was born May 6, 1926, in Konnarock, Va.
Earl served in the U.S. Army in Germany during World War II. He spent much of his life in Flint, Mich., where he worked for General Motors. Earl retired to Arcadia, where he spent the last three decades of his life. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. Earl enjoyed following sports, especially NASCAR. He had a green thumb, and almost always had something growing in his garden. Earl was loved by all, and will be sorely missed by his family.
He leaves behind his wife of 65 years, Birdie; six sons, Robert, John, Russell, Raymond, Dennis and Mark; four daughters, Connie, Margaret, Brenda and Donna; and four siblings, Russell, Irene, Janet and Reba. Earl was preceded in death by his stepdaughter, Bobbie.
A service with military honors will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 4, 2013, at Sarasota National Cemetery in Sarasota, Fla. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in his name to your favorite charity.
