William Irl Boggess

William Irl “Bill” Boggess, 79, died Monday, Sept. 16, 2013, with his family by his side, after a long illness.

He served in the United States Air Force, and was honorably discharged in 1957. After discharge from the Air Force, he settled back in his hometown of Fort Ogden, Fla., where he worked in construction for many years. The remainder of William’s working years was spent on the family farm, growing citrus and working cattle. He was a lifetime member of Fort Ogden Baptist Church, and a member of the American Legion, the Florida Farm Bureau and the Florida Cattlemen’s Association.

William is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Diane Boggess; his children, Richard (Annette) Boggess, Steven (Heather) Boggess, Julie (Dale) Johnson, David (Cheryl) Sunnarborg, Duane (Tara) Sunnarborg and Dawn Sunnarborg; 16 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Will Frank Boggess and Mavis Martin Boggess; his sisters, Janice (Jim) Brewer and Jean (Edward) Williams; and recently by his brother, Robert “Del” (Nancy) Boggess.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the funeral service at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 20, 2013, at Fort Ogden Baptist Church, 9500 S.W. Hull Ave., Arcadia, Fla.
