Genethel James
Genethel James, 62, of Punta Gorda, Fla., passed away Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013.
She was born Feb. 16, 1950, in Punta Gorda, to Eddie Lee and Mary Lois Smith, and was raised by Hattie and Sammie King.
Genethel worked in housekeeping at Charlotte Regional Medical Center, and was the co-owner of D and G Construction Cleanup. She was proud to have helped with opening the Mason Hall as a Teen Club. Genethel was a faithful member of St. Mary’s Primitive Baptist Church, and enjoyed working with her plants.
She is survived by her children, Regina Anderson of Port Charlotte, Fla., David James Jr. of Punta Gorda, Natalie James of Cape Coral, Fla., Ariel James of Missouri, and Chelsia James of Port Charlotte; her mother, Mary Lois Smith of Venice, Fla.; sisters, Jackie Hearns of Sarasota, Fla., and Verna “Mona Baby” Haynes of Arcadia, Fla.; brothers, Eddie Lee Smith Jr. of Venice, and Riley “PeeWee” Smith of Venice; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, David James Sr.
