Lloyd Gilbert Sullivan

Lloyd “Gilbert” Sullivan, 80, passed away Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012, at home, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born April 9, 1932, in Arcadia, Fla., and was a lifetime resident.

Gilbert was of the Christian faith. He will be remembered as a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend to many. Gilbert was co-owner and managed Cline’s Tractor and Machine Shop in Arcadia. His friends called him “Tweedle,” and to his family it was “Uncle Buse.” He served our country in the U.S. Army. Gilbert was a member of Elks Lodge 1524 and past Exalter Ruler of Moose Lodge 1327 in Arcadia, and American Legion Post 11, where he was past Post Commander. Tweedle was an avid Florida Gators fan, was a Cowboy in his younger years, and enjoyed hunting.

He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Anelia Ann (nee Cline) Sullivan of Arcadia; sons, Gilbert W. (Jeri) Sullivan of Port Charlotte, Fla., and Lloyd L. (Leona) Sullivan of Arcadia; grandchildren, Kelli B. Crafton and Jonathan P. Sullivan, both of Port Charlotte; great-grandson, R.J. Crafton; and numerous nieces and nephews. Gilbert was preceded in death by his parents, Carl L. and Pina Crews Sullivan; and brothers, Donald L. and Wayne B. Sullivan.

A visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the funeral services at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013, at the chapel of Ponger-Kays-Grady Funeral Homes, 50 N. Hillsborough Ave., Arcadia. The Rev. Billy Wooten will officiate. Burial will be at Joshua Creek Cemetery, with military honors presented by the U.S. Army Honor Guard.
