Kenneth LeRoy Pawell

Kenneth LeRoy Pawell, 84, passed away Monday, Nov. 5, 2012, in Arcadia, Fla.

He was born in Osceola, Ind., May 17, 1928.

Kenneth resided in Indiana until after retirement, wintering in Bradenton, Fla., for 13 years, and moving permanently to Arcadia in 2004. He married Joyce Ann Hutchins at River Park Methodist Church July 19, 1950, in South Bend, Ind. Kenneth served our country as a Marine from 1945 until 1951, in China and also Korea. He was a member of the China Marines Association, and a lifetime member of VFW Post 360 of Mishawaka, Ind. Kenneth was also a member of the Masonic Lodge 130, and a 32nd-degree mason, and remained a mason for over 50 years. He worked at Dodge Manufacturing in Mishawaka for 35 years. Kenneth was an usher for Notre Dame University home football games for 34 years, and a proud and avid fan.

He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Joyce Ann Hutchins Pawell of Arcadia; daughter, Susan J. Custard of Dallas, Texas; sons, Robert K. (Brenda) Pawell of Teegarden, Ind., and Michael S. (Kit) Pawell of Arcadia; brothers, Frederick J. Pawell of Newport News, Va., and Charles E. (Carla) Pawell of South Bend; grandchildren, Casey Pawell, Jessica Pawell, Nathan Pawell, Jenny Eutsey, Heather Carrieri and Camille Custard; and 14 great-grandchildren.

A celebration of Kenneth’s life will be held privately at Sarasota National Cemetery in Sarasota, Fla. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Kenneth’s name be made to the American Heart Association, 5851 St. Augustine Road, Jacksonville, FL 32207.
