Samuel Q. Reynolds Jr.
Samuel Q. Reynolds Jr., 82, passed away Monday, Sept. 17, 2012, in Arcadia, Fla.
He was born Dec. 6, 1929, in Arcadia.
Samuel retired as an aircraft mechanic for Pan American Airlines after 30 years of faithful service. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean War. Samuel was the recipient of two Purple Hearts, awarded to him for his service to his country. He left Arcadia in the early 1950s after the war, to begin his career with Pan Am. Samuel returned to Arcadia in 1996. He loved fishing, watching football, and spending quality time with his wife Doris L. Reynolds of Arcadia, and his children. Samuel was a member of the Korean War Brotherhood, and Fort Ogden United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his daughters, Monteal Reynolds of Tamarac, Fla., and Sheila (Darrell) Smith of Louisiana; son, James (Sunny) Reynolds of Greenacres, Fla.; brother, John (Forrest) Reynolds of Nocatee, Fla.; sister, June Fulton of Fort Ogden, Fla.; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and long time companion, Ms. Edna Dees of Arcadia. Samuel was preceded in death by his loving wife of 45 years and the mother of his three children, Doris L. Reynolds; and parents, Samuel Q. Reynolds Sr. and Ruby Gualt Reynolds.
Funeral Services were held Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2012, at Fort Ogden United Methodist Church, with Pastor Neal Avariti officiating. Burial was at Biloxi National VA Cemetery in Biloxi, Miss., alongside his wife. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Fort Ogden United Methodist Church, 6923 S.W.
