This time of year s relatively quiet. Summer vacations and day trips are over, children are back at school and the bustle of holiday preparations has not started yet. It is also the time of year when groups which have not met during the summer months will soon resume meetings. That is when C.A.S.E. can be especially useful.
As a quick review, C.A.S.E. — Communities Against Senior Exploitation — was originally intended as a way to provide information to older residents about scams and frauds. In the more than five years it has been available in DeSoto, the scope has widened to all residents. As volunteer manager of the program, my main goals are to provide information however I can about the scams and frauds out there and ways to avoid becoming a victim of them.
