Alert deputy catches drug dealer

ENGLEWOOD EAST — A Charlotte County Sheriff’s road deputy recognized the driver of a car that passed him in Englewood East on Thursday night as being wanted for charges on two undercover Narcotics Unit drug buys Oct. 16 and 23 in the Englewood area. Arrested was David G. Campbell, 53, of the 10100 block of Wilmington Boulevard, Englewood East. The deputy observed Campbell at Wilmington Boulevard and Almanac Street and turned on his lights and siren. Campbell finally stopped by pulling into his driveway in his green Ford with an Indiana tag. His driver’s license has been suspended since 2008.

Campbell was transported to the Charlotte County Jail after being arrested on six charges of sale and delivery of oxycodone, sale and delivery of hydromorphone, possession of hydromorphone, possession of oxycodone, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving while license is suspended. He remains in jail on a $16,000 bond.
