Standing before a crowd of over 80 local government, business and agricultural persons, Dr. Karyn Gary, Superintendent of DeSoto County Schools, addressed the role that education should play in the future of the county. “To foster the economic growth of our community the school district can and must create a pro-business environment in the county through a quality public school system that ranks in the top 20 percent of Florida School Districts,” said Gary. “School isn’t about more school ... it’s eventually about getting a job, supporting yourself and giving back to the community.”

The Building Bridges through Education breakfast was held in the Turner Agri-Civic Center on Jan. 24, hosted by the DeSoto County Education Foundation, Inc. Mosaic was the corporate sponsor of the event.
