Council ponders cutting police department
ARCADIA — A substantial portion of the city of Arcadia’s revenues goes to the Arcadia Police Department. Even though APD trimmed its funding request slightly for Fiscal Year 2012-13, its budget still approached $1.5 million, representing a substantial share of the city’s $5.38 million general fund.
During a special workshop held July 10 to review the city’s public safety budget, Councilman Joe Fink noted the city collected $1.3 million from property taxes, while APD cost the city $1.4 million.
