ARCADIA — The City of Arcadia saw some heavy house cleaning in 2012 as the City Council fired its Administrator, Dr. Lawrence Miller, and its Finance Director, Jorge Santana.

On June 5, the council fired Miller with a 3-2 vote after two years in the job. The move came out of the blue and took Miller by surprise because his contract extension was on the agenda for discussion that night. Miller had been working under a six-month contract extension, but on June 5, Councilman Joe Fink presented a motion to give Miller an 18-month contract because “it’s hard for the administrator to do his job properly on a six-month basis,” Fink said then.
