I’m a quitter. My editor is a quitter. My brother is a quitter. And, we’re fine with it because what we quit was cigarettes. It’s been 10 years for me, 7 years for her, and 26 for my brother. And, today is a good day to quit. Well, any day is a good day, but the United States observes today, for the 37th year, the Great American Smokeout.

This event, sponsored by the American Cancer Society, seeks to raise awareness on the dangers of smoking and urges smokers to quit or to make a plan to quit.
