DESOTO COUNTY — The DeSoto County School District has a new superintendent for the first time in almost a quarter-century as Karyn Gary defeated incumbent Adrian Cline Tuesday night.

Gary currently works for Charlotte County Public Schools as the director of the Charlotte Technical Center in Port Charlotte.
